The World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Program offers exceptional professionals the opportunity to apply their technical expertise and contribute to development challenges. This role involves serving as a technical advisor on physical security, security systems, and fire life safety, supporting projects from planning through commissioning and ensuring compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical advisor on physical security, security systems, and fire life safety, ensuring projects meet relevant standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance from planning through commissioning; review designs and submittals; conduct site assessments; monitor implementation quality; advise stakeholders; support guidelines, training, and technical queries; manage budgets prudently; and develop project requirements for perimeter security, access control, CCTV, alarms, safe havens, lighting, barriers, and building/fire code compliance.
  • Advise WBG on physical security, security systems, and fire life safety requirements.
  • Develop technical requirements for real estate projects from planning through commissioning.
  • Review designs, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with WBG and international standards.
  • Conduct site assessments and monitor implementation of security and fire life safety measures.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Real Estate, Country Security Specialists, and project teams.
  • Support WBG guidelines, training, technical queries, and prudent budget management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Structural Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–6 years of relevant professional experience in designing, project management and maintenance of physical security, security systems, and/or Fire Life Safety systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to successfully perform complex design reviews.
  • Proven experience in physical security resource management, including but not limited to procurement and budgeting.
  • Familiar with security risk assessment, risk mitigation programs and procedures for operations in varied operating risk environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in another language considered an advantage.
