WBG Pioneer - Development Outcomes Measurement Intern

The internship offers a high-impact learning experience supporting the World Bank Group's Department for Outcomes in strengthening development results measurement. The intern will assist with data preparation, evidence generation, strategic material drafting, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge management related to the WBG Scorecard and FY26 Mid Term Review process.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data and methods tasks – Help prepare datasets, track methodological updates, and support efforts to improve Scorecard measurement quality, including indicator definition reviews, reproducibility checks, quality assurance, disaggregation work, and data curation across WBG operational systems and platforms.
• Support evidence generation for the FY26 Mid Term Review – Assist in collecting, cleaning, organizing, and synthesizing evidence from internal and external consultations, workstream discussions, and independent reviews (IEG, GIA). Contribute to drafting analytical summaries and inputs for the four MTR lenses — Clarity, Credibility, Collaboration, and Capability.
• Draft and prepare strategic materials – Contribute to preparing presentations, briefing notes, evidence packs, and high-level summaries for senior leadership, WBG collaborators, and Board-facing discussions related to Scorecard progress and MTR recommendations.
• Support stakeholder engagement and consultation processes – Help organize and document internal and external consultations, consolidate feedback from diverse WBG and non-WBG stakeholders, and synthesize emerging insights to inform strategic adjustments to the Scorecard.
• Maintain a structured knowledge base for Scorecard processes – Support the organization of methodological guidance, cross-institutional input, decisions, and knowledge products to ensure teams across the WBG have accessible, up-to-date resources for Scorecard implementation.

Requirements

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a postgraduate (Master's/PhD) program.
• Candidates must have 1–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Academic background must align with the requirements outlined in the job description (e.g., economics, public policy, data science, international development, statistics, or related fields).
• Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group's mission.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in English is required (fluency required; no additional language requirements specified).
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, structured datasets); ability to synthesize diverse sources of evidence (consultation feedback, evaluations, indicator frameworks, methodological notes).
• Experience cleaning, organizing, or documenting datasets; ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting.
• AI-related skills for data management and analytics is a plus.
• Ability to draft clear summaries, short analytical notes, and polished presentation materials for senior audiences.
• Ability to manage timelines, track deliverables, and maintain well-structured documentation across multiple workstreams.
• Attention to detail — essential for methodological accuracy, data quality checks, and reviewing evidence packages.
• Ability to work effectively across diverse teams within the World Bank, IFC, and MIGA.
• Familiarity with Power BI, R, Python, Stata, and AI LLMs is a strong plus.
• Experience with qualitative synthesis, including coding consultation feedback or analyzing interview/focus group inputs.
• Experience preparing PowerPoint presentations and management-facing decks.
• Familiarity with results measurement frameworks, development indicators, or monitoring & evaluation.
• Understanding of WBG operations, the Scorecard architecture, or corporate reporting — or a demonstrated capacity to learn these quickly.
• Interest in institutional performance, accountability systems, and development outcomes in global public institutions.
