The Operations Analyst-Climate and Sustainable Finance Analyst supports the World Bank Group's Climate Department by providing analytical, operational, and coordination support across sustainable finance and climate-related portfolios. The role involves conducting research, supporting climate finance operations, improving methodologies and tools, and collaborating across institutions to advance climate and sustainable finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry, market, project, and institutional research and analyze economic, financial, technical, and portfolio data to support operational work, business development, and management decisions.
  • Support team workstreams and WBG operations on Paris Alignment, climate co-benefits, sustainable finance, adaptation and resilience, climate risk, and related topics.
  • Support GHG accounting and climate outcomes metrics by collecting, cleaning, validating, and analyzing data; documenting assumptions and results; and contributing to improving methodologies, tools, and reporting.
  • Prepare briefs, presentations, reports, guidance, checklists, training and knowledge materials, and communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Support editing, quality review, and dissemination of materials.
  • Support practical tools, dashboards, data systems, workflow improvements, automation, and AI-enabled solutions including testing, quality control, user support, and maintenance.
  • Provide project-management and internal delivery support including work planning, portfolio monitoring, procurement and contract coordination, meetings and events, stakeholder follow-up, and tracking deliverables.
  • Collaborate across WBG institutions, regions, Global Practices, operational teams, and corporate functions.
  • Take ownership, respond quickly, shift flexibly between workstreams, and undertake additional assignments as priorities evolve.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, business, public policy, international development, engineering, data analytics, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in climate, development, or sustainable finance, supported by relevant academic or professional exposure.
  • Familiarity with Paris Alignment, climate finance, sustainable finance, adaptation and resilience, GHG accounting, or climate outcome metrics is desirable.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, GHG protocols, Scope-1 to 3 emissions calculation systems, and emissions databases is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with qualitative and quantitative information, identify data gaps, test assumptions, structure ambiguous issues, and draw clear conclusions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to prepare concise, accurate, and well-structured briefs, reports, and presentations for different audiences.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data visualization, dashboards, statistical tools, automation, or AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, attention to detail, and results orientation.
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing assignments, meet short deadlines, and deliver high-quality work with appropriate independence.
  • Proactive, dependable, accountable, collaborative, and service-oriented.
  • Sound judgment, learning agility, and willingness to work across functional and cultural boundaries and flex between client-facing and internal assignments.
