The Infrastructure Investment Analyst Intern will provide analytical, research, financial modeling, and transaction support to Investment Officers in the Latin America and the Caribbean Infrastructure Unit. This internship offers hands-on experience in infrastructure investment analysis within the World Bank Group's IFC division, focusing on emerging markets.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and analyze financial models; project finance modeling experience is desirable.
  • Review and analyze historical and projected financial statements and other client financial information.
  • Conduct industry, market, pricing benchmark, and integrity/KYC research, and support IFC’s business development efforts.
  • Prepare pitchbooks, client proposals, internal memos, and other written outputs for transaction processing and portfolio management.
  • Review periodic financial statements, project progress reports, and other information submitted by clients.
  • Provide analytical support during investment negotiations and internal approval processes.
  • Support active monitoring of portfolio investments, including compliance with IFC financial, environmental, insurance, and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, an undergraduate program, preferably with a concentration in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in a financial institution, investment banking, private equity, consulting, infrastructure company, or related sector is desirable.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, financial analysis, and modeling skills; experience with infrastructure and project finance is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, and ability to identify issues and present practical solutions.
  • Ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries, with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Keen interest in emerging markets and private sector development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish is required, and Portuguese is a plus.
