See your match score & applyLead the WHO Ukraine Country Office's Rehabilitation and Disability Unit to implement the 5-year Rehabilitation, Assistive Technologies, Long Term Care and Disability Strategy. Provide technical support to improve health services for people with impairments and disabilities and strengthen evidence-based policy and program decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the WHO rehab and disability team and visiting consultants to align activities with WHO's 5-year strategy and monitoring framework.
- Provide technical and methodological support to develop/strengthen rehabilitation services for key stakeholders.
- Support leadership of the Rehabilitation Working Group by strengthening service mapping and gap identification.
- Maintain up-to-date information on centres and organizations providing rehabilitation services and assistive products.
- Improve referral pathways of trauma patients in collaboration with rehab partners and clinical stakeholders.
- Support provision of essential equipment and assistive technologies to inpatient rehabilitation settings and promote community access.
- Support recruitment and deployment of WHO consultancy and other staff including international rehabilitation teams.
- Support development of project proposals, implementation, monitoring and evaluation plans aligned with WHO Ukraine 5-year rehab and disability framework.
- Support resource mobilization for Ukraine Country Office.
- Provide technical support to strengthen WHO's disability inclusion strategy and support UN Disability Task Team coordination.
- Identify and communicate priorities and needs related to emergency health response and recommend coordination mechanisms and training.
- Support national rehabilitation and disability technical officer to influence policy development.
- Contribute to development of country and regional evidence and data on disability and rehabilitation including vision and hearing impairment.
- Oversee, enhance, implement, monitor and evaluate the European regional work on Disability and Rehabilitation.
- Develop and recommend norms and procedures concerning technical aspects of disabilities and rehabilitation services.
- Represent WHO in technical meetings, seminars and academic events in disabilities and rehabilitation.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Advanced University (Master`s level) degree in rehabilitation, public health, medicine, or related areas relevant to the position.
- Additional post-graduate qualification in management (desirable).
- At least seven years of experience at the international level in planning, implementing, managing and evaluating programmes in disability and rehabilitation.
- Practical experience in implementing or advising health or governmental institutions, NGOs, etc. on rehabilitation and assistive technology in lower- and middle-income countries.
- Relevant experience working with WHO, the United Nations, or other multi development agencies active in disability, rehabilitation and assistive technology (desirable).
- Professional experience working in countries within the WHO European Region (desirable).
- Excellent knowledge of rehabilitation, assistive technology, disability and community-based service development.
- Good general knowledge of public health from a national and international perspective.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard text, spreadsheet and presentation software applications.
- Emotional intelligence and ability to manage own and others' emotions.
- Expert knowledge of English.
- Beginners knowledge of Russian (desirable).
