See your match score & applyThe Public Health Officer supports the implementation, analysis, and monitoring of public health programmes and activities. The role provides technical input to WHO teams and counterparts in health promotion, prevention, surveillance, preparedness, response, and health systems strengthening.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis and research on public health topics to support the development of public health programmes and activities.
- Contribute to the drafting of public health guidelines and provide input into plans of action for public health policies and health systems.
- Support monitoring of workplans and budgets, including resource mobilization and follow-up on implementation of planned activities.
- Analyze information on best practices in Public Health and health systems and report findings to Responsible Officer.
- Participate in capacity building in the area of Public health systems and the management and financing of the systems.
- Participate in community outreach activities concerning the extension of health-care networks.
- Contribute to the drafting of public health reports and act as a focal point to Public Health topics in the area of work.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A first university degree in medicine, public health, or a health-related field from a recognized university.
- An advanced university degree in medicine, public health, or a health-related field from a recognized university (desirable).
- At least two years of professional, internship, research, or volunteer experience in public health activities.
- Experience conducting analysis and research on public health topics.
- Experience working with government agencies and/or local ministries of health at national and/or subnational level (desirable).
- Experience working with WHO, UN agencies, and/or other international organizations (desirable).
- Expert knowledge in written and verbal English.
- Working knowledge in written and verbal form of another official UN/WHO language (desirable).
- Ability to conduct research and analysis.
- Ability to draft reports, briefs or technical inputs.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
