See your match score & applyThe Programme Assistant supports the roll-out and implementation of the Unified Case Management system (UCM) to ensure food assistance is accessible, equitable, accountable, and delivered safely and with dignity. The role involves supporting people-centred assessments, community engagement, monitoring, and reporting to promote protection, gender, inclusion, and accountability in humanitarian programming in Sudan.
Responsibilities
- Support people-centred assessments by integrating protection, gender, disability inclusion, conflict sensitivity and accountability considerations to promote safe and dignified assistance delivery.
- Organize and facilitate community consultations, focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (KIIs) and other engagement activities to inform programme planning and operational decision-making.
- Collect, compile, verify and maintain assessment, monitoring and feedback data, records and supporting documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
- Document and analyze information on protection risks, gender dynamics, disability inclusion concerns, community priorities, operational risks, challenges and emerging issues to feed into operational decision making.
- Support implementation of monitoring, community engagement and accountability activities in line with approved plans and field office priorities.
- Support community sensitization and awareness-raising activities to ensure affected populations understand assistance processes, entitlements, feedback channels and complaint mechanisms.
- Promote safe, equitable and accessible access to assistance, information and feedback mechanisms for women, men, girls, boys, older persons and persons with disabilities.
- Support partner and staff capacity strengthening and compliance with WFP's people-centred standards.
- Liaise with cooperating partners, area/field office and country office teams to support PCPQ implementation, partner engagement processes, data collection, quality assurance, identification of good practices and adaptation of interventions based on community insights.
- Provide technical support for reporting, knowledge management and lessons learned, including guidance to enumerators/facilitators and partner staff on data collection and reporting requirements, and contribute to regular reports to the Country Office and corporate reporting.
- Actively engage in learning opportunities.
- Other assigned duties as reasonably required.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or certified diploma in communications, social science, international development, law, international studies, human rights, political science, public administration, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in humanitarian and development work at the field level is essential.
- Experience supporting assessments, community consultations, monitoring activities and data collection.
- Experience working with communities, partners and field teams.
- Experience preparing reports and maintaining programme records is desirable.
- Understanding of and strong background in protection, including gender, accountability to affected people (AAP), inclusion, in humanitarian action, with demonstrated skills in advocacy, negotiation, interpersonal relations, and networking.
- Prior experience in facilitating training and workshops is advantageous.
- Fluent in both English and Arabic.
- Understanding of protection, including AAP, gender, inclusion, conflict sensitivity and social safeguarding.
- Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collect, organize and analyze information from different sources.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with communities, partners and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and maintain confidentiality.
