See your match score & applyThe Programme Assistant will support programme implementation activities at district level, coordinate information sharing, collect and analyse programme data, liaise with stakeholders, and provide training and capacity building to government counterparts and cooperating partners to ensure effective programme management and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, resolving routine issues and escalating where appropriate, to ensure that the quantity distributed, and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
- Support planning for programme implementation activities at district level in collaboration with relevant government and community counterparts.
- Coordinate information sharing with field and country office counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and tracking of ongoing project activities.
- Collect and summarise programme(s) data, collaborating with cooperating partners where required, conduct analysis, and prepare reports to support informed decision-making.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including subnational authorities, cooperating partners and WFP field and country office staff to gather feedback and comments to support programme management.
- Suggest improvements to field tracking processes and procedures for efficient implementation of programmes.
- Arrange for regular meetings with community leaders and cooperating partners on commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements, community involvement and support, issue resolution, government engagement, and other relevant issues to support effective communication flow and efficient operations.
- Coordinate and collaborate with government counterparts and other relevant stakeholders at the district level, providing guidance and on-the-job training to strengthen capacity and support effective programme implementation.
- Provide standard training for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, tools and methods.
- Support and work alongside government counterparts to strengthen their capacity to plan, implement monitor, and manage the programmes, supporting a gradual transition and handover to the government.
- Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation, including recommendations to address challenges.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school education.
- A post-secondary certificate, and a degree in the related functional areas, including Agriculture, Education, Community development, Rural development and Environment is desirable.
- At least five (5) years relevant working experience in the sectors of community development, agriculture support, rural development, school feeding programme or equivalent is preferable.
- Experience working with technical teams and contributing to programme implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience working in rural locations with people of different backgrounds.
- Ability to speak ethnic group language(s) is an asset.
- Ability to communicate clearly and to interact with government partners.
- Valid driving license and ability to travel to project area by motorbike.
- Teamwork skills.
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English language and Lao.
