See your match score & applyThe Procurement Officer will support procurement programs and operational activities including tendering, evaluating offers, negotiating and awarding contracts, ensuring compliance with WFP standards. The role involves collaboration with other units to align procurement with overall WFP programs and rapid response to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Support procurement programs and operational activities including launching tenders, evaluating offers, negotiating and awarding contracts applying standard procedures.
- Collect and analyze data and contribute to reports related to food quality and safety to manage and mitigate risks.
- Work closely with colleagues from other WFP units to ensure procurement activities align with overall WFP programs to meet food assistance needs.
- Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to enable WFP to respond rapidly and deploy food and resources in affected areas.
- Act quickly to respond to food emergencies as needed.
- Support the project team on food technology aspects of food assistance programs including quality monitoring for Cash & Voucher activities ensuring compliance with WFP food safety and quality rules.
- Provide support for food quality assurance, ensure compliance of specifications in tender documents and contracts, and provide technical advice on food quality standards according to WFP guidelines and procedures.
- Collect data and contribute to timely and accurate procurement activity reports to support informed decision-making and optimize performance.
- Monitor food suppliers on all food quality issues including issuance of quality, compliance and health certificates, identify any weaknesses or potential food quality risks, support investigations of food safety incidents and propose solutions.
- Conduct and document performance evaluations of food suppliers and inspection companies and communicate improvement plans.
- Support the Programme team on food technology aspects of food assistance programs including quality monitoring for Cash & Voucher activities ensuring compliance with WFP food safety and quality rules.
- Perform any other assigned tasks.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in economics, logistics, business administration, engineering, food technology or related field.
- At least 1 year of professional experience in procurement.
- Proven experience in routine procurement transactions of food, goods, and services.
- Experience in food quality management.
- Experience in developing schedules and reports on costs proposed by suppliers (retailers, wholesalers, trading agents, etc.).
- Experience coordinating procurement processes with other units/teams (Logistics, ICT, Administration, etc.).
- Good knowledge of French (level C) and ability to communicate in English (level B).
