The Monitoring Assistant supports the operational and technical monitoring of activities implemented by the WFP Sub-Office in Brazzaville. The role involves regular field monitoring, data collection and analysis, compliance checks with WFP standards and procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement of WFP interventions in the coverage area.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor implementation of activities according to the Operational Monitoring Plan, Risk-Based Monitoring Framework and WFP standards and procedures.
  • Verify food, non-food and cash transfer movements and distributions, identify discrepancies and report to supervisor for corrective action.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring missions to assess quality of activity implementation, identify good practices, operational constraints and risks affecting interventions.
  • Produce clear and structured monitoring reports after each field mission highlighting findings, actions taken, observed shortcomings and recommendations for improvement.
  • Follow up on implementation of recommendations from supervision missions and contribute to continuous quality improvement of operations.
  • Collect, verify, consolidate and analyze data related to WFP activities to support indicator monitoring, performance evaluation and decision-making.
  • Maintain and update registers, databases and monitoring documents related to Sub-Office activities.
  • Contribute to data entry, consolidation and updating in WFP information systems including COMET, LESS and other program monitoring platforms.
  • Monitor implementation of accountability mechanisms towards affected populations (CFM) and contribute to handling complaints, information requests and feedback from beneficiaries.
  • Track cases recorded in SugarCRM and support their processing and closure in coordination with relevant units.
  • Ensure respect for protection principles, beneficiary dignity, accountability and PSEA during field activities.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners and stakeholders to facilitate activity implementation and collect monitoring information.
  • Provide technical support to implementing partners on WFP monitoring procedures, tools and methods to strengthen capacities and improve reporting quality.
  • Collect and analyze observations from partners, communities and beneficiaries to identify implementation difficulties and propose corrective measures.
  • Participate in community sensitization activities related to WFP interventions.
  • Contribute to preparation of technical and operational reports for the Sub-Office.
  • Support RAM team and Sub-Office Chief in monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor within the scope of functions.

Requirements

  • Ability to conduct field missions and manage monitoring activities ensuring compliance with WFP policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Experience in data collection, verification, consolidation and analysis related to WFP activities using established tools and procedures.
  • Capacity to maintain and update registers, databases and monitoring documents for the Sub-Office activities.
  • Familiarity with WFP information systems such as COMET, LESS and other program monitoring platforms.
  • Ability to support accountability mechanisms towards affected populations and contribute to handling complaints, information requests and feedback from beneficiaries according to WFP procedures.
  • Knowledge of protection principles, dignity of beneficiaries, accountability and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) during field activities.
  • Experience liaising with cooperating partners and stakeholders to facilitate activity implementation and gather monitoring information.
  • Ability to provide technical support to implementing partners on WFP monitoring procedures, tools and methods to strengthen their capacities and improve reporting quality.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing feedback from partners, communities and beneficiaries to identify implementation difficulties and propose corrective measures.
  • Participation in community sensitization activities related to WFP interventions.
  • Contribution to preparation of technical and operational reports for the Sub-Office.
  • Support to the RAM team and Sub-Office Chief in monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
  • Ability to perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the functions.
