IT Operations SC P

The IT Operations Officer supports the delivery of efficient and effective IT services in WFP Ukraine, contributing to innovative solutions that enable staff to deliver assistance to beneficiaries. The role involves supporting the implementation and management of Digital Assistance Services, resolving network issues, and providing timely IT system support.

Responsibilities

• Support the budgeting, planning and deployment of IT and Telecommunications systems aligned with business needs and WFP corporate standards.
• Provide support to maintain IT and Telecommunications systems and networks, ensuring data security and access controls, and support users.
• Install and configure new computer hardware to improve and upgrade system performance; support technology upgrades as required.
• Provide data and documentation to support procurement of TC/IT equipment and services in line with WFP rules and regulations.
• Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate reports on IT/Telecommunications investments and costs to inform decision-making.
• Develop technical skills and knowledge, and build awareness of industry developments.
• Respond to user queries, resolve issues, provide advice, and ensure IT policies, procedures, systems and tools are correctly applied.
• Guide junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
• Support capability building of staff through organizing or reviewing training programs in IT and Telecommunications.
• Coordinate with other UN agencies to network, align activities and support inter-agency collaboration in IT and Telecommunications.
• Interact effectively with colleagues and user groups to understand needs and provide appropriate technical support.
• Follow emergency preparedness and contingency planning practices to maintain basic IT services and respond quickly at crisis onset.
• Follow operational plans and deliver resource requirements at emergency onset.
• Review and analyze TEC EPR framework, identify needs for TEC emergency protocols, policies, and SOPs, and recommend actions to IT staff in Country Offices and TEC teams.
• Ensure timely analytics and reports on emerging telecommunications technologies beneficial to WFP emergency operations and staff safety and security.
• Perform any other duties as required.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, Networking or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in the same disciplines, combined with additional years of relevant work experience.
• At least one (1) year of postgraduate professional experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, Networking or other relevant field.
• Applies thorough understanding of the business, customers, new IT technologies and techniques to implement improved solutions and define service levels, standards and the monitoring process for client service staff.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience in telecommunication systems including computer networks, satellite voice and data and related telecommunication systems and radio communication systems.
• Strategic thinking, business analysis and ability to translate user requirements into new processes and solutions.
• Builds partnerships by seeking out opportunities to work with others and collaborates to deliver common objectives.
• Fluency (level C) in both English and Ukrainian languages.
