Provide efficient and safe transportation services to senior WFP staff, UN officials, and high-level visitors, including coordination of related transport services. Responsible for vehicle maintenance coordination and supporting administrative tasks related to fleet management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation services to senior WFP staff, UN officials, and visitors, including simple translation from and to the local language, and delivery and collection of various items, following authorized itinerary and respecting UN safety rules to ensure safe and efficient service.
  • Plan and assign itineraries and schedules of other drivers to promote efficient transport services for clients.
  • Receive official staff and visitors at the airport or other arrival points and provide basic assistance with visa processing and customs formalities to facilitate smooth and secure arrival and entry to the authorized destination.
  • Maintain careful vehicle records and report daily to supervisor on vehicle mechanical conditions to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption, contributing to accurate accounting and cost efficiency.
  • Plan and coordinate vehicle maintenance efficiently to ensure vehicles are fully equipped with travel authorizations and necessary supplies and that onboard equipment is in good condition to provide safe and efficient service.
  • Follow established rules and regulations for field deliveries and/or in case of accident, immediately report any evident problem to supervisor to request instructions and facilitate informed decision-making on how to proceed.
  • Perform basic office-related tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores as appropriate, including mail service and payment of telephone and other office bills to provide administrative support to clients.
  • Serve as the FleetWave focal point regarding vehicle administration data at the national level.
  • Monitor the FUELAPP system with other drivers for effective management.
  • Act as focal point for the UN BOOKING HUB system for mobility reservations at the national office level.
  • Serve as focal point for the MYFLEET tool for all support related to FUELAPP and UNBOOKING HUB.
  • Be the focal point for Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) for vehicle tracking at the national level.
  • Register vehicle maintenance and monitor workshops at the national level.
  • Serve as backup to assume fleet manager responsibilities during vacations and/or leave.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education cycle.
  • Official driver training and valid license or certificate to drive the assigned vehicle applying local rules and regulations.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
  • Experience driving various vehicle makes and models, including vans, trucks, and other motor vehicles.
  • Experience in defensive driving is valued.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, protocol and courtesy of a driver, local roads and waterways, and safety issues.
  • Good knowledge of transport services and ability to coordinate itineraries and schedules of other drivers.
  • Knowledge of vehicle/boat driving rules and regulations as applicable.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, portable floating safety devices, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to assess vehicle mechanical suitability and technical knowledge to perform minor repairs.
  • Knowledge of vehicle load capacity and other parameters.
  • Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone, and other devices.
  • Basic skills to provide emergency assistance, knowledge of basic first aid methods.
  • Customer-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact.
  • Fluency (level C) in Spanish.
  • Must currently reside in Caracas.
