See your match score & applyThe Web Editor is responsible for developing and improving the Agency's website design and usability, ensuring optimal user experience and compliance with industry standards. The role includes supervising website managers, coordinating web content production, analyzing website performance, and supporting social media content management within UNRWA's Communications Department.
Responsibilities
- Develop new approaches, policies, processes and procedures for the effective administration and improvement of the Agency’s website design and usability.
- Design creative, interactive and immersive webpages using web design platforms (e.g., VeV) and content management systems (CMS).
- Supervise the English Language Website Manager and the Arabic Language Webmaster to ensure accurate and corresponding content on both language websites.
- Conduct regular reviews of website content to ensure it is up-to-date, accurate and valid.
- Liaise with the Head of Creative Digital and Multimedia, Agency field operation focal points, and relevant UNRWA departments to produce web content including stories, videos, and photo essays.
- Coordinate with external programmes on technical improvement and training.
- Analyze website performance statistics and perform Search Engine Optimisation tasks.
- Collaborate with the Head of Creative Digital and Multimedia and Social Media Coordinator to improve web and social media services.
- Assist the Director of Communications in managing and producing compelling design and content for the Agency’s social media platforms.
- Provide web communications guidance to colleagues throughout the Agency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in computer science, communications, or other related discipline.
- At least seven years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in a large national or international organisation.
- Experience in Web management and New Media.
- Knowledge of web communications technologies, including Drupal 11, and standards.
- Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Candidates must currently reside in the duty station (Amman, Jordan) and specify their current location.
- Previous experience at a UN Agency or INGO is desirable.
- Knowledge of Middle East contemporary political and cultural affairs is desirable.
- Good understanding of the context of Palestine refugees and UNRWA operations is desirable.
