Vocational Training Instructor – Sheet Metal

The Vocational Training Instructor supports the design and delivery of learning programmes and curricula in sheet metal specialization, facilitates training sessions, prepares assessments, maintains employer linkages, applies quality assurance, supports greening and digital initiatives, and collaborates with staff to ensure a respectful and safe learning environment at the training centre.

Responsibilities

• Supports the design and development of learning programmes and curricula including occupational and competency analyses, drafting programme profiles, learning guides and manuals, integrating new technologies, and career guidance
• Facilitates delivery of school-based and work-based learning programmes including setting up training venues, utilizing facilities and equipment, selecting trainees, preparing inclusive training plans, facilitating and monitoring learning, employing adult learning strategies, and mainstreaming occupational health and safety and core skills
• Prepares student assessments including formative and summative assessments, practice-based and knowledge-based skills tests, develops assessment sheets and implementation plans, and conducts assessments according to plans
• Supports maintaining linkages with employers, workers, and TVET instructors; collects and utilizes labour market information; supports skills needs assessments, employer surveys, and graduate trace studies
• Applies quality assurance tools and processes across the training cycle according to UNRWA TVET Quality Assurance Framework
• Supports TVET greening and digitalisation initiatives; assists in designing and implementing green and digital learning programmes; integrates green and digital skills into training courses; supports synchronous and asynchronous training sessions
• Collaborates with other instructors and staff to coordinate teaching and learning, maintain respectful environment, order and discipline, implement co-curricular activities, support occupational health and safety measures, and report incidents and risks
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Successful completion of full Secondary Education plus two years post-secondary technical education or training in mechanical engineering
• No experience is required
• English and Arabic at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking
• Indicate your current involvement in any outside activities, including employment, consultancy, teaching, conferences, voluntary work, political activity, fundraising, business ownership, or work for government/NGO/private company/charity, UNRWA partner/vendor, full/part-time, paid or not
• Candidates must reside in Syria and be within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria at the time of application
• Providing incorrect or misleading information on an application will result in immediate disqualification
• Selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks including verification of academic credentials, employment history, ClearCheck and INTERPOL, and certification of non-conviction where available
• Candidates who have committed violations of international human rights law, humanitarian law, sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment, or crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment
• UNRWA does not charge any fee at any stage of recruitment and onboarding process
