Vocational Training Instructor – Central Heating & Plumbing

The Vocational Training Instructor supports the design and delivery of learning programmes and curricula in Central Heating and Plumbing. The role includes facilitating training, preparing assessments, maintaining employer linkages, applying quality assurance, supporting greening and digital initiatives, and collaborating with staff to ensure a respectful and safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of learning programmes and curricula including occupational and competency analyses, drafting programme profiles, learning guides and manuals, integrating new technologies, and career guidance
• Facilitate delivery of school-based and work-based learning programmes including setting up training venues, utilizing facilities and equipment, selecting trainees, preparing inclusive training plans, monitoring learning, employing adult learning strategies, and mainstreaming Occupational Health and Safety (OSH)
• Prepare student assessments including formative and summative assessments, practice-based and knowledge-based tests, develop assessment sheets and implementation plans, and conduct assessments according to plans
• Maintain linkages with employers, workers, and TVET instructors; collect and utilize labour market information; support skills needs assessments, employer surveys, and graduate trace studies
• Apply quality assurance tools and processes across the training cycle according to UNRWA TVET Quality Assurance Framework
• Support TVET greening and digitalisation initiatives; assist in designing and implementing green and digital learning programmes; integrate green and digital skills into training courses; support synchronous and asynchronous training sessions
• Collaborate with other instructors and staff to coordinate teaching and learning, maintain respectful environment and discipline, implement co-curricular activities, support OSH measures and report incidents and risks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Successful completion of full Secondary Education plus two years post-secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Power, HVAC, Central Heating, Plumbing, or a related field
• No experience is required
• English language proficiency at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking is required
• Arabic language proficiency at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking is desirable
• Candidates must reside in Syria and be within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria at the time of application
• Candidates must provide complete and accurate information in the UNRWA online recruitment system
• Candidates will be subject to reference and background checks including verification of academic credentials, employment history, ClearCheck and INTERPOL, and certification of non-conviction where available
• Candidates must adhere to UNRWA's zero-tolerance policy on misconduct including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, racism, abuse of authority, and harassment
• Candidates must not appear on the UN Sanctions List or have been separated for misconduct from any UN agency

• Contract type is Daily Paid Assignment for up to three months with possibility of extension subject to funds and performance
• Grade 9 Daily Rate is 25.63 USD with possible reduced work schedule
• Additional benefits include 1 day annual leave and 1 day sick leave for each completed month of service
