See your match score & applyThe Site Engineer is responsible for day-to-day activities of construction and maintenance project sites, supervising contractors to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality, health and safety, and gender requirements. The role includes monitoring materials and workmanship, verifying payments, resolving technical difficulties, and preparing progress reports.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all day-to-day activities of construction/maintenance project site.
- Supervise contractors ensuring works are implemented according to Contract Documents and meet quality, health and safety, and gender requirements.
- Monitor quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring compliance with specifications and necessary tests.
- Valuate, measure, and agree with contractors on quantities of executed work; verify interim and final payments.
- Ensure correctness of levelling and surveying; check locations of existing utilities and resolve technical difficulties.
- Check and record working, shop, and as-built drawings, actual levels, foundation details, and deviations during execution.
- Prepare and discuss Variation Orders, Extension of Time, and other contract changes; assess additional work details including costs.
- Maintain and enter records into Facilities Management Information System (FMIS); prepare daily and weekly technical/financial progress reports and statistics.
- Examine and approve contractor methods to ensure safe and satisfactory execution of works.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree in civil engineering from an accredited university/institution.
- At least three years’ experience on site supervision of construction/maintenance/infrastructure projects is required.
- English and Arabic language proficiency at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Willingness and capability to drive a UN vehicle within the Field.
- Candidates must reside in Syria within commuting distance of Aleppo and have authorization to work in Syria at the time of application.
