This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event coordination, partnerships, and communications within a dynamic United Nations environment. The intern will contribute to global programmes, enhance knowledge management, and develop valuable skills in stakeholder engagement and international relations.

Responsibilities

  • Support events-related planning by identifying and researching specific events, maintaining an updated calendar and event tracker, and coordinating planning activities for delegations and side event applications.
  • Help develop and maintain tools related to global events and provide coordination and logistics support in the run-up and post-event phases.
  • Draft and coordinate submissions for internal communications related to international days.
  • Support information sharing related to global events by identifying and disseminating event timelines and application processes.
  • Facilitate regular communications and calls concerning global events and develop key documents to facilitate participation.
  • Respond to global programmes' requests and needs related to global events and follow up on key processes such as delegation registration and side event applications.
  • Provide logistics support for events and visits as needed.
  • Develop internal tools, guidance, and materials as required.
  • Facilitate the visibility of UNOPS Geneva and specific global programmes on corporate social media accounts, website, and intranet.
  • Undertake research and provide reference materials for the preparation of briefs, notes, and statements.
  • Provide related partnership and communications support as needed.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (within 3 years prior to the application date of the internship) a Bachelor/Master’s/Ph.D. Degree in developmental studies, political science, international relations or related field.
  • No prior experience required.
  • One-year of experience in the field of business development, communications, and/or partnerships in a reputable organization is desirable.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and software packages (Google Suite/Workspace Office) and experience in handling web-based systems.
  • English language proficiency at fluent level is required.
  • French language proficiency at intermediate level is desirable.
  • Spanish language proficiency at intermediate level is desirable.
  • Arabic language proficiency at intermediate level is desirable.
  • Chinese, Mandarin language proficiency at intermediate level is desirable.
  • Russian language proficiency at intermediate level is desirable.
