Information Management and Analytics Analyst

The Information Management and Analytics Analyst is responsible for database structure design, maintenance and improvement and database administration. The role supports data availability and accuracy for programmatic and operational purposes within the UNMAS Syria Programme under UNOPS.

Responsibilities

• Assist the development of the IM function including upscaling or downscaling the IM Unit structure in accordance with the development of UNMAS Syria.
• Identify and report gaps, challenges, risks and opportunities in information management.
• Support the design, maintenance and improvement of the database structure under technical guidance.
• Support the definition, documentation and improvement of established IM processes focusing on data management.
• Provide technical inputs to the development and updating of IM SOPs in accordance with relevant IMAS and NMAS.
• Ensure database administration including data validation, cleaning, compliance, imports, backups and routine quality checks.
• Support the development, maintenance and improvement of data collection and validation tools.
• Ensure relevant mine action data is available to stakeholders in a timely and accessible manner complying with data-sharing and security policies.
• Provide datasets, technical inputs, data quality support, and reporting-ready outputs to UNMAS Operations, Programme, MA AoR, SNMAC and partners.
• Support the preparation and implementation of UNMAS data migration to IMSMA Core according to approved plans.
• Support the definition of national data requirements under guidance of supervisor and national authorities.
• Support the development, maintenance and improvement of IM training management packages and deliver approved technical IM training to stakeholders.
• Conduct IM, GIS and spatial analysis, create maps for spatial analysis, tasking, reporting and data validation.
• Produce data and information packages including operational snapshots, factsheets, and dashboards to support IM reporting.

Requirements

• Advanced University Degree (Masters Degree or equivalent) preferably in the field of Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Sciences or related field is required; OR First-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) preferably in the field of Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience is required; OR High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience is required.
• Experience in providing information management support, working with database systems, and managing data quality.
• Experience in data modeling, data validation rules, data cleaning, database administration, and SQL/PostgreSQL or similar systems.
• Experience in working with GIS tools and producing maps and spatial analysis outputs to support operational or programmatic decision-making.
• Experience in designing and delivering technical training to varied stakeholders (e.g., data entry, data quality, database use).
• Desired: Experience producing dashboards or data visualization products for reporting purposes.
• Desired: Supporting Information Management in mine action.
• Desired: Working with IMSMA, SQL or Postgres.
• Desired: Working with ArcGIS and Survey123.
• Desired: Working with governmental institutions, UN, NGOs.
• Fluent English language proficiency is required.
• Fluent Arabic language proficiency is required.
