See your match score & applyThe Deputy Project Manager works under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager to coordinate daily project operations, ensuring delivery within time, cost, quality, scope, risk, and benefits tolerances. The role involves planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, stakeholder management, quality assurance, risk management, knowledge management, and personnel management for projects supporting the health sector in Honduras.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily project operations in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager.
- Develop, complete, and update project plans and implement approved plans within established tolerances.
- Manage project changes, risks, quality, and performance control according to UNOPS PMM.
- Integrate sustainability, social inclusion, gender equity, environmental, health and safety policies into project coordination.
- Monitor project performance and compliance with delivery indicators, ensuring timely results.
- Ensure quality of work packages and deliverables meet defined standards.
- Supervise technical coordination teams and approve deliverables.
- Control project and work package changes in coordination with Senior Project Manager.
- Identify and advise on risk mitigation measures to maximize benefits for partners and stakeholders.
- Manage delivery and monitoring of medical equipment and infrastructure acquisition projects.
- Maintain project plans, schedules, and tracking tools for effective coordination.
- Prepare management reports and operational documentation for decision-making and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and project management procedures.
- Manage legal obligations and financial controls in coordination with Senior Project Manager.
- Monitor budget, cash flow, and obligations to meet deliverables and payments.
- Participate in project closure and formal delivery processes.
- Prepare and review project reports, minutes, and follow-up on agreements.
- Support stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Contribute to development of stakeholder profiles and participation strategies.
- Participate in governance structures as required.
- Manage human and material resources for project activities.
- Support business development and new opportunities in coordination with Senior Project Manager.
- Ensure project quality standards and provide technical assistance to project management and steering committees.
- Maintain risk registers and monitor operational, financial, and programmatic risks.
- Contribute to lessons learned and knowledge management processes.
- Manage project files and documentation.
- Promote a culture of respect and zero tolerance for discrimination, abuse, harassment, and exploitation.
- Ensure accountability and compliance with UNOPS protection policies and action plans.
Requirements
- This position is open only to internal international candidates of UNOPS with current ICA or staff contracts.
- Candidates must have a proactive attitude, self-management skills, and ability to define and negotiate deadlines, goals, objectives, and priorities.
- Experience in project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Knowledge of UNOPS Project Management Manual (PMM) and UN policies related to project management, sustainability, social inclusion, gender equity, environmental, health and safety management.
- Ability to manage project budgets, cash flow, and financial obligations in coordination with senior management.
- Experience in managing procurement and acquisition projects, especially in medical equipment and infrastructure.
- Skills in risk identification, mitigation, and escalation.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Ability to prepare and review project reports, plans, and documentation.
- Commitment to organizational policies on respect, zero tolerance for discrimination, abuse, harassment, and exploitation.
- Ability to foster a culture of accountability and compliance with UNOPS standards and mechanisms.
