The Community Mobilization Officer supports the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement for the YEEAP II project in Yemen. The role involves community outreach, strategic stakeholder management, event organization, knowledge management, and operational support to advance renewable energy access and climate resilience goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support community outreach and engagement activities targeting rural and peri-urban residents, youth, health facility administrators, and local shopkeepers to promote the benefits of solar energy solutions
  • Maintain regular communication with local community leaders to build trust and ensure safe project access in YEEAP II target governorates
  • Establish mechanisms for regular stakeholder consultation and feedback through surveys, focus groups, workshops, and online forums
  • Assist in organizing gender-sensitive meetings and consultations ensuring women, displaced persons, and marginalized groups have a voice in energy access priorities
  • Collect and document community feedback regarding solar equipment performance and technical support needs
  • Support coordination with local authorities, technical institutes, and microfinance institutions relevant to the solar energy value chain
  • Assist in identifying and mapping key stakeholders including Ministry of Electricity and Energy, local NGOs, private sector solar distributors, and international partners
  • Support development and implementation of a comprehensive Stakeholder Engagement Plan aligned with international environmental and social standards
  • Support documentation of strategic partnerships to scale up solar microgrids and household solar kits
  • Assist in preparing programme concept notes and presentation materials using data-driven insights to influence energy policy and private sector investment
  • Support design and implementation of awareness campaigns about renewable energy benefits and climate resilience
  • Support organization of events, webinars, and workshops including inputs for high-level forums like COP and regional energy summits
  • Facilitate knowledge building by documenting lessons learned and sharing Yemeni energy-access data globally
  • Collaborate with communication teams to manage social media and website updates related to YEEAP II milestones
  • Assist in preparing community-focused stories and content for public communication materials
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements for technical training and community workshops including site selection and procurement of training materials
  • Maintain organized records of stakeholder interactions and attendance lists
  • Support operational aspects of community activities including coordination of small procurements and tracking expenditures
  • Ensure all engagement activities adhere to safety protocols and gender-mainstreaming guidelines specific to Yemen

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in energy, engineering, law, political sciences, economics, communication, business administration or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive professional experience in community and stakeholder engagement, partnerships development, or related fields
  • Experience in the use of collaboration and productivity tools (e.g. MS Office, G-Suite, etc) and web-based management systems is required
  • Strong knowledge of the Yemen context
  • Experience of working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desired
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively and respectfully within multinational, multicultural work environments engaging effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent working knowledge on communicating, reaching out and dealing with unique communities
  • Experience in the organization of webinars, events, workshops, or meetings
