See your match score & applyThe Communications Senior Officer develops and implements the overall communication strategy for the UNOPS Madagascar country office. Responsible for designing and monitoring communication plans for all projects implemented in Madagascar, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and UNOPS branding standards.
Responsibilities
- Analyze local and institutional communication contexts to develop, implement and monitor the overall communication strategy and work plans for the UNOPS Madagascar office.
- Design, formalize, develop and monitor execution of communication and visibility plans for all projects implemented in Madagascar.
- Provide analyzed data and key information to inform communication strategy definition.
- Ensure timely and high-quality execution of communication activities aligned with project and program objectives.
- Ensure all strategies and productions strictly align with donor requirements and UNOPS branding standards.
- Analyze local communication context, target audiences and channels to optimize outreach.
- Support dissemination of strategic messages through various forums and media.
- Produce a wide range of high-quality materials including press releases, reports, web articles, blog posts, case studies illustrating project impact, and information sheets about UNOPS and projects.
- Collaborate closely with technical experts to collect, structure and transform complex data into accessible communication materials (in-depth reports and feature articles).
- Design impactful graphic materials (infographics, quote cards, invitations, banners, presentations) ensuring strict adherence to branding and visual coherence.
- Manage end-to-end multimedia production including field shooting and editing short videos (interviews, reports) to disseminate dynamic messages in line with UNOPS, Government and donor policies.
- Plan, organize and participate in visibility missions to gather qualitative information and document activity progress.
- Produce case studies and field stories illustrating concrete project impact, ensuring quality of visibility elements meets donor requirements.
- Develop, structure and rigorously manage editorial calendars for digital platforms and social media.
- Write engaging posts and manage regular content on official channels, conducting targeted digital campaigns to amplify project impact.
- Organize, centralize and maintain the office's photo library, video library and visual resource library.
- Maintain effective communication with donors, clients, partners and other stakeholders.
- Plan and execute external events ensuring representation complies with UNOPS standards.
- Collaborate with technical experts for strategic reporting and visibility initiatives.
- Contribute to UNCG initiatives and communication partner working groups to ensure alignment and synergy of communication strategies.
- Support organization, facilitation and delivery of training and learning sessions on communication-related topics.
- Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives and communities of practice, contributing ideas and lessons learned from communication project implementation.
- Conduct research on communication topics and contribute to writing reports, summaries and briefing notes.
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, multimedia, public relations or related field with 2 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree combined with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional experience in communication, public relations, media, journalism or related fields.
- Experience using collaboration and productivity tools such as MS Office and Google Workspace and web-based management systems.
- Preferred: Professional certification in communication, journalism, digital communication and social media, or graphic design.
- Preferred: Technical experience in content production including graphic design tools and video production.
- Preferred: Proven experience managing social media.
- Preferred: Proven experience developing and implementing strategic communication plans for complex or multi-project programs.
- Preferred: Experience engaging stakeholders including donors, institutional partners, and media, and coordinating external communication.
- Preferred: Experience working in multicultural environments or within UN system organizations in developing countries.
- Preferred: Experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
- Preferred: Experience developing and monitoring content for diverse audiences including local populations.
