See your match score & applyThe Technical Specialist - Industrial Development will provide subject matter expertise throughout the project implementation cycle under the EU4Mindanao Action. The role focuses on increasing local agribusinesses' and cooperatives' productive capacities through agro-industrial development, technology and equipment transfer, renewable energy solutions, processing and value addition, and adoption of responsible business practices and sustainability standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive, gender-responsive needs assessments of agribusinesses, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs to identify opportunities and barriers.
- Lead identification, specification, procurement, and transfer of productivity-enhancing equipment and renewable energy solutions.
- Ensure alignment of equipment and energy solutions with shared processing facilities and market demand.
- Provide technical guidance on processing techniques, productivity improvement, food safety, quality control, and resource efficiency.
- Apply the anchor firm methodology to support value chain integration.
- Support design and delivery of entrepreneurial training and skills development programmes for youth and local communities.
- Lead provision of direct assistance to youth for livelihood generation and income diversification.
- Explore digitalization of training contents and mobile training modalities.
- Provide on-site technical advisory services and follow-up mentoring to beneficiary enterprises and cooperatives.
- Lead implementation of responsible business practices and sustainability standards training and coaching.
- Provide guidance on UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and responsible sourcing.
- Establish linkages with certification initiatives and buyer networks.
- Coordinate closely with project teams, government partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in industrial development, engineering, business administration, or related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in industrial development, agro-industry, or related sectors.
- Experience in project implementation and management, preferably in development cooperation projects.
- Proven expertise in agro-industrial development, technology transfer, renewable energy solutions, and value addition processes.
- Knowledge of responsible business practices, sustainability standards, and quality control.
- Experience working with local communities, cooperatives, and agribusinesses, including vulnerable groups such as women and youth.
- Ability to conduct gender-responsive needs assessments and market analysis.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with government agencies, UN organizations, and private sector partners.
- Familiarity with UNIDO rules and procedures for procurement and project management.
- Excellent communication and training skills, including capacity building and mentoring.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field conditions.
