The Partnerships Coordinator supports partnership development and management within the Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization Unit, aligning with the strategic priorities of the Energy and Climate Action Division. The role advances partnerships across projects and flagship initiatives on industrial decarbonization, sustainable cities, sustainable fuels, and related areas, facilitating collaboration with governments, financial institutions, industry, and international organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a partnerships dashboard to map and consolidate existing and new partnerships within the Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization Unit.
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping, ecosystem analysis, and market intelligence to identify strategic partnership opportunities and gaps.
  • Support the development, implementation, and periodic updating of partnership strategies, engagement plans, and collaboration frameworks aligned with unit and division priorities.
  • Coordinate with relevant organizational units to ensure alignment and synergy in partnership activities.
  • Strengthen collaboration with governments, development partners, financial institutions, industry, academia, and international organizations to advance industrial decarbonization and sustainable energy systems.
  • Contribute to advancing flagship initiatives such as the Net Zero Partnership for Industrial Decarbonization, Global Matchmaking Platform, Global Decarbonization Accelerator, Industrial Deep Decarbonization Initiative, and Cities-Industry-Climate Nexus.
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing among partners to support project implementation and impact.
  • Monitor partnership progress and support reporting and evaluation activities as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, engineering, economics, international relations, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in partnership development, project coordination, or related roles within international organizations or development agencies.
  • Experience in industrial decarbonization, sustainable energy systems, climate action, or related sectors is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder partnerships involving governments, private sector, financial institutions, and international organizations.
  • Strong analytical skills including stakeholder mapping, ecosystem analysis, and market intelligence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and manage diverse partners.
  • Ability to develop and implement partnership strategies, engagement plans, and collaboration frameworks.
  • Familiarity with UNIDO's mandate, Sustainable Development Goals, and climate-related initiatives is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
