See your match score & applyThe consultant will develop a future-ready WASH workforce at the Global WASH practice, strengthening capacity across UNICEF teams to drive systems transformation, engage markets and private sector, and navigate complex financing. The role emphasizes continuous learning, structured talent development, and advancing gender equality within the WASH workforce.
Responsibilities
- Establish and validate a TEAM (Technical, Entrepreneurial, Analytical, and Managerial) framework for UNICEF WASH teams to guide workforce development.
- Identify structured learning pathways and map talent management efforts linked to career progression for WASH professionals.
- Strengthen the pipeline of WASH talent at entry, mid, and leadership levels.
- Enhance engagement with private sector actors and financing partners in the WASH sector.
- Promote increased representation and leadership of women within the WASH workforce through a dedicated Women in WASH pathway.
- Support institutionalization of robust capacity development systems within UNICEF and its partners for sustained impact and sector transformation.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master's level or above) in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Learning and Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, International Development, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in talent management, competency-based human resource management, leadership development, coaching, mentoring, change management, or learning systems would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Talent management and workforce development; Organizational development and change management; Capacity assessment and competency framework design; Learning and development systems; Leadership development and succession planning; Human resource strategy and workforce planning.
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering organization-wide capacity mapping, skills assessments, and workforce diagnostics for international organizations, multilateral institutions, governments, NGOs, or private sector organizations.
- Solid understanding of capacity building and talent management approaches, competency modelling, skills assessment and capacity building design.
- Experience in developing practical talent management and skills development tools that can be commonly used for self-assessment and learning.
- Ability to design career progression pathways and facilitate structured conversations with leadership on workforce and talent decisions.
- Strong project coordination and strategic workforce planning skills, succession management, and organizational transformation.
- Prior experience with UNICEF or the UN system is desirable.
- Familiarity with UNICEF's programme structure and the work of WASH Global Practice is desirable.
