The Statistics and Monitoring Officer (Nutrition) supports UNICEF’s global nutrition monitoring and evidence generation efforts by managing and analyzing nutrition data, maintaining global databases, and producing high-quality statistics and estimates for global reporting and advocacy. The role strengthens countries’ capacity to monitor nutrition through technical support and training, contributes to dissemination of data and evidence, and collaborates with UNICEF teams and global partners on nutrition initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze nutrition data to support UNICEF’s global nutrition monitoring and evidence generation efforts.
  • Maintain global nutrition databases and produce high-quality statistics and estimates for global reporting and advocacy.
  • Strengthen countries’ capacity to monitor nutrition through technical support and training.
  • Contribute to dissemination of data and evidence through publications and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with UNICEF teams and global partners on nutrition initiatives.
  • Improve data systems and workflows through innovation, automation, and standardization to enhance quality, accessibility, and use of nutrition data worldwide.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, economics, public policy, epidemiology, statistics, computer sciences or in one of the social sciences with strong quantitative training and experience.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience at national and/or international levels in nutrition, statistics, economics, public policy or other relevant fields.
  • Experience with household survey data (DHS, MICS, LSMS).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex statistical analysis is required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with statistical programming and statistical analysis software (Stata, R, SPSS).
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical Analysis.
  • Solid understanding of Database Management.
  • Data Quality Assurance.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is desirable.
  • Experience working with nutrition data and familiarity with data visualization tools is desirable.
  • Experience with GitHub, database pipelines, reproducible workflows, automation tools, responsible use of AI-assisted coding or workflow tools is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
