Social Protection Consultant (National)

The consultant will provide technical support to strengthen the emergency preparedness and response capacities of Social Assistance at municipal level in the state of Acre, Brazil, focusing on risks posed by flooding and drought. This role involves leveraging UNICEF's expertise and partnerships to enhance social protection shock-responsiveness in vulnerable communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capacities of Social Assistance at municipal level in Acre state
• Tailor technical guidance developed with MDS/SNAS to Acre's territorial specificities
• Support implementation of child-sensitive preparedness and response across sectors in line with the National Protocol for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents in Situations of Risk and Disasters
• Collaborate with Acre State Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights (SEASDH) and other partners to enhance social protection shock-responsiveness

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree on Social Work, Social Sciences, Political Science, or another related field
• Minimum of three years of professional experience with the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) at the municipal or state level
• Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory
• Advanced knowledge of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS)
• Excellent report writing skills
• Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
• Knowledge of SUAS in emergencies (desirable)
• Professional experience in Climate Change or Disaster Risk Reduction (desirable)
• Relevant experience in a UN agency (desirable)
