The internship supports the Social Policy section, specifically the Public Finance Management team, in developing and populating an internal online dashboard on child wellbeing and social sector financing. The intern will compile, clean, organize and visualize data from national surveys and budget documents to aid UNICEF programme planning, advocacy, and engagement with government and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Social Policy section, particularly the Public Finance Management team, in developing and populating an internal online dashboard on child wellbeing and social sector financing.
  • Compile, clean, organize and visualize data from national surveys and budget documents.
  • Ensure the dashboard is user-friendly, updateable and useful for UNICEF programme planning, advocacy and engagement with government and partners.

Requirements

  • Recently graduated within the last two years with either a Masters or Bachelors degree in one of the following disciplines: data analytics, statistics, economics, public finance, public policy, demography, research methods, data science, information systems or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Proficiency in English and knowledge of a local language is added advantage.
  • Have strong communication, research, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate experience working in Microsoft Excel and with data visualization tools such as Power BI is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to check data consistency and document sources clearly.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
