See your match score & applyThe Social & Behavior Change Officer will support the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and adaptation of social and behavior change interventions related to public health emergencies in Burundi. The role involves providing technical and operational support to national and decentralized structures, partners, and community platforms to strengthen risk communication and community engagement (CREC) efforts.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, updating and implementation of SBC/CREC plans and microplans in priority areas.
- Strengthen the collection, analysis and use of social and behavioral data and community feedback.
- Support the production and dissemination of harmonized messages and contribute to rumor prevention and management.
- Enhance community participation, inclusion of vulnerable groups and accountability to affected populations.
- Improve coordination of CREC interventions and their integration into different pillars of the response.
- Strengthen capacities of national, decentralized and community actors and promote quality standards adherence.
- Improve monitoring, documentation, reporting and capitalization of SBC/CREC interventions.
Requirements
- Licence or equivalent university degree in Communication Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Sciences or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in social and behavior change, risk communication and community engagement (CREC), communication for development, community engagement, public health or humanitarian action.
- Proficiency in Risk Communication, Community Engagement and Social and Behavior Change.
- Fluency in French and Kirundi is required.
- Practical knowledge of English and/or Kiswahili or another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
- Practical experience in epidemic preparedness or response, including Ebola/Marburg, cholera, Mpox, measles, poliomyelitis or other epidemic-prone diseases is a significant advantage.
- Experience with social listening mechanisms, community feedback, accountability to affected populations, rumor management or social and behavioral data production is desirable.
- Experience working with government, UN system, NGOs, media or community structures is an asset.
- Field experience including border areas, refugee/returnee sites or emergency contexts is desirable.
- Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile and humanitarian contexts.
