The Procurement Assistant supports the procurement cycle for essential medicines and related health products, ensuring timely availability and optimal stock levels in UNICEF warehouses and strategic hubs. The role focuses on commercial functions, assisting with requisitions, order processing, and customer service to meet program implementation needs efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement cycle for essential medicines and related health products.
  • Support maintenance of optimal stock levels and planning replenishment cycles.
  • Ensure timely availability of essential medicines products in UNICEF warehouse and appointed strategic hubs.
  • Support effective service provision to customers, ensuring accurate and timely processing of Requisitions and requests up to the completion and closure of the order.
  • Meet the needs and requirements of customers to support kit packing, emergency response, and programme implementation efficiently.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education with additional training in Business Administration.
  • A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace 3 years of related work experience.
  • A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) may replace an additional 2 years.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a procurement function, or an administrative function in a commercial working environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Organisational Skills, Negotiations Skills, Supply Chain, Product Safety, SharePoint.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Tendering Experience, International Tendering Experience, Regulated Products, Multicultural Environment.
  • UN experience is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
