The Nutrition Specialist will support the strengthening of national nutrition systems to improve effectiveness and achievement of nutrition outcomes through enhanced multisectoral coordination, data systems, governance, and evidence use. The role involves facilitating linkages across key sectors, supporting nutrition information systems digitalization, contributing to programme monitoring and reporting, and providing technical support to nutrition governance and policy alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the strengthening of national nutrition systems to improve effectiveness and achievement of nutrition outcomes through enhanced multisectoral coordination, data systems, governance, and evidence use.
  • Facilitate linkages across key sectors to drive integrated nutrition action and actively contribute to national and sub-national coordination platforms, ensuring UNICEF priorities are reflected.
  • Support the strengthening and digitalization of nutrition information systems to improve data quality, availability, and use for decision-making.
  • Contribute to annual project assessments, monitoring processes, and high-quality programme reporting.
  • Provide technical support to strengthen nutrition governance structures, policy alignment, and the review and updating of relevant guidelines and frameworks.
  • Contribute to nutrition evidence generation and knowledge management, including documentation, analysis, and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices to inform policy and programme improvements.

Requirements

  • Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in nutrition, public health, epidemiology, global health, health sciences, health policy, health management and any other related fields.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, maternal and child health, public health, program management, monitoring and evaluation, policy development, emergency preparedness, partnership building, capacity building, advocacy, and any other related fields.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Analytical thinking, systems thinking, partnership development, capacity building, nutrition data digitization, experience in international organizations.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
