Nutrition Officer

The Nutrition Officer will support the program planning, implementation coordination, monitoring and reporting of UNICEF’s nutrition programming in Manila. The incumbent will ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of nutrition programming and achieve concrete and sustainable results in maternal and child nutrition.

Requirements

• First University degree in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences (medicine, nursing, midwifery, other allied health professions), nutritional epidemiology or related fields.
• Post graduate degree (Master or equivalent) in any of the related fields is an advantage.
• Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in some or all the following areas: Maternal and child nutrition, public health, or health and nutrition programme implementation.
• Planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of nutrition and programmes and projects.
• Nutrition data and information management, including data quality assurance (DQA), analysis, and use of routine information systems to support programme decision-making.
• Providing technical and operational support to government counterparts and coordinating with development partners and stakeholders at national and/or subnational levels.
• Strong programme management skills across the programme cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and coordination.
• Demonstrated skills in nutrition data management, data quality assurance (DQA), data analysis, and use of routine health and nutrition information systems (e.g., FHSIS, OPT).
• Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with government and partners.
• Ability to identify implementation bottlenecks, propose practical solutions, and support delivery of programme results.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and report-writing skills.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
• Familiarity with national health and nutrition information systems, including FHSIS – Field Health Services Information System, OPT - Operation Timbang Plus, PIMAM - Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition, maternal nutrition, IYCF - Infant and Young Child Feeding, micronutrient supplementation or community nutrition programmes.
• Experience working with government institutions, local government units (LGUs), development partners, or UN agencies.
• Experience in nutrition emergency preparedness, response, or resilience programming.
• Knowledge of the Philippine health and nutrition system is an advantage.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
