This consultancy aims to hire an international expert to conduct a needs assessment on how digital tools, including AI, can support the uptake of newly developed teaching and learning materials and pedagogical approaches for pre-primary and primary school teachers and head teachers in Sierra Leone. The findings will guide the development of new tools, training, or investments based on the results.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a needs assessment on how digital tools, including AI, can support the uptake of newly developed teaching and learning materials and pedagogical approaches for pre-primary and primary school teachers and head teachers in Sierra Leone.
  • Analyze findings to inform next steps such as development of new tools or content, training on existing or new tools, small-scale investments in new solutions, or other options based on the results.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Education, Blended learning, Pedagogy and Instructional Design, Education Technology, Economics or Economics of Education, Public Policy and Administration, Information, Communication and Technology.
  • At least 5 years of experience in development of blended learning, education technology and teacher capacity development.
  • Strong understanding of early grade teaching methods, teacher training, and inclusive education.
  • Experience in design of digital tools for teacher capacity building.
  • Proven experience training teachers on digital materials and facilitating capacity-building workshops.
  • Previous relevant work experience in African contexts will be well regarded.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplined teams.
  • Knowledge of current education technology trends and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to work with a team of experts and stakeholders, including government and non-government bodies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in responsible use of AI tools for evaluation and writing purposes.
