See your match score & applyThe consultant will support UNICEF's OSE in implementing, socializing, and adopting data governance initiatives, focusing on assessing and improving key data assets' readiness for AI. The role involves stakeholder engagement, coordination, facilitation, and strengthening organizational capacity to operationalize data governance products and services.
Responsibilities
- Provide experienced support to OSE for implementation, socialization and adoption of UNICEF’s data governance initiatives.
- Assess and improve UNICEF’s key data assets’ data readiness for AI.
- Translate agreed technical products, guidance and decisions into practical engagement materials.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and coordinate implementation activities.
- Support rollout and adoption of data governance products and services.
- Strengthen organizational capacity to operationalize approved data governance products and services.
- Operationalize agreed products and support stakeholder uptake.
- Document learning and ensure timely follow-through across concurrent workstreams.
- Support workstreams including Data Governance Maturity Assessment, Support for Data Roles, Key Data Assets, Data Quality Guidelines, Data Readiness for AI Assessment Tool, Data Governance Toolkit, Data Capability Model, and Stakeholder Engagement and Socialization.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Governance, Statistics, Public Policy with a strong data component, or another relevant field related to data management and governance.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data governance, data management, data strategy, information management, data architecture, analytics, or related fields.
- Experience establishing and supporting data accountability models.
- Experience with data quality, metadata management, data cataloguing, master data management, and data asset management.
- Experience supporting AI readiness, responsible AI, or data preparedness initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in international, multilateral, governmental, non-governmental, or development-sector organizations.
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, change management, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or equivalent data management frameworks.
- Change Management and Adoption Frameworks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UNICEF programmes, structures, and operating environment.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
- Prior work experience with UNICEF strongly preferred.
- Experience working with UNICEF or other United Nations agencies, international organizations, humanitarian organizations, development partners, or large federated organizations is highly desirable.
- Understanding of child-rights-based approaches to data and responsible data practices is an asset.
