See your match score & applyThe Immunization Specialist is responsible for professional leadership and contribution to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of the Immunization programme within the country programme to achieve UNICEF's immunization goals. The role includes technical support, capacity building, partnership coordination, and emergency preparedness to improve immunization outcomes for children.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership in the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration of the Immunization programme in conjunction with Child Survival and Development, Maternal and Child Health, Health and Nutrition components within the country programme.
- Ensure the UNICEF Immunization programme promotes gender equality, emphasizing gender disaggregation, disparity identification and mainstreaming.
- Contribute to sectoral analysis and Situation Analysis with integration of sex disaggregated data for effective project planning and management.
- Participate and collaborate with internal and external partners in the development and implementation of Immunization strategies and approaches.
- Establish strategic work plans and objectives, provide effective technical support, and ensure timely delivery of planned results.
- Monitor and evaluate project implementation progress for adjustment and improvement of program delivery and sustainability.
- Provide technical support to government and NGOs including capacity building of government personnel and beneficiaries.
- Strengthen capacities of Country Office staff through effective capacity building programmes related to Immunization Programme development, implementation and management.
- Ensure UNICEF and Government accountability for supply and non-supply assistance and disbursement of programme funds for the sector.
- Achieve and maintain effective partnership and collaboration for advocacy, technical cooperation, programme coordination, information sharing and knowledge networking.
- Provide relevant and strategic information to support the Immunization Programme through effective monitoring system implementation.
- Prepare all required programme reports timely in compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain emergency preparedness and provide effective emergency responses with coordination when required.
- Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities effectively.
Requirements
- Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Epidemiology, Public Administration, Nutrition, Pediatric Health, Child Development, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, Health Management, Child Health and any other related fields.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, health, immunization programs, public health, maternal and child health, health systems strengthening, program management, health policy and any other related fields.
- Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care.
- Experience in program planning and implementation, programme implementation monitoring and evaluation, technical support and people management.
- Fluency in French is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
- Relevant experience in emergency context and health system strengthening is desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
