The Deputy Representative Programme serves as the principal adviser on the overall management of the Country Office, development of policies and strategies, and coordinates all phases of the Country Office Programme. The role supports leadership in partnerships and humanitarian programme delivery, contributing to sustainable results for vulnerable children in Türkiye.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Representative on managing the Country Office.
  • Oversee programme planning and development.
  • Monitor and ensure quality control of programmes.
  • Represent UNICEF and build alliances and coordinate with the UN System.
  • Lead private sector engagement and partnerships.
  • Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
  • Ensure security of personnel, programmes and organizational assets.

Requirements

  • An advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, government and public relations, public or social policy, sociology, social or community development, or another relevant technical field is required.
  • A minimum of ten years of professional development experience that combines technical and managerial leadership in development cooperation at the international level, some of which served in developing countries is required.
  • Relevant professional experience in any UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Experience in humanitarian settings is strongly desired.
  • Experience in leveraging public/private partnership is desired.
  • Previous experience in working in UMIC and/or HIC is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Negotiation skills.

  • Soft skills required in sensitive political settings.
  • Works well under pressure in high threat environments.
