Consultant to Update the Multidimensional Child Poverty Study with PNAD-C 2025 Data

UNICEF Brazil seeks a consultant to update its Multidimensional Child Poverty study by incorporating 2025 PNAD Contínua data into the existing time series. The assignment involves applying established methodology and producing updated estimates, tables, figures, and narrative analysis for 2025.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a targeted update of the Multidimensional Child Poverty study by incorporating 2025 PNAD Contínua data into the established time series.
• Apply the methodology, indicator definitions, analytical cuts and reproducible scripts already developed for the study.
• Produce comparable estimates for 2025 and update the corresponding tables, figures, key findings and narrative analysis.
• Ensure the update preserves comparability and only make technical adjustments if strictly necessary and agreed with UNICEF.

Requirements

• Master’s in economics, Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences, Public Policy or a related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in quantitative data analysis, production of statistics and indicators, survey microdata analysis, or related work.
• Demonstrated experience working with PNAD Contínua microdata, preferably annual microdata and thematic modules, including the correct application of survey weights and sample design procedures.
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one statistical programming environment used for reproducible analysis, such as R, Stata or Python.
• Experience in poverty, multidimensional poverty, social indicators, or inequality analysis.
• Strong analytical writing skills and ability to translate statistical results into clear findings for policy audiences.
• Fluency in Portuguese is required.
• Working knowledge of English is desirable.
• Previous experience with research on children and adolescents is desirable.
• Previous work with UNICEF, another United Nations agency, IBGE, Ipea or another governmental/research institution is desirable.
