Consultant (e) national(e) en recherche en sciences sociales et gestion des données CREC, trois mois, au bureau

The consultant will provide technical support to the Ministry of Public Health, COUSP, the CREC sub-commission and UNICEF to produce, manage, analyze, visualize and use quality social and behavioral data to improve preparedness and response to public health emergencies. The role involves designing and implementing rapid social research, strengthening data architecture and quality, producing actionable analyses, monitoring evidence use in decision-making, and transferring skills to national teams and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to Ministry of Public Health, COUSP, CREC sub-commission and UNICEF for production, management, analysis, visualization and use of quality social and behavioral data to improve public health emergency preparedness and response.
• Design and implement rapid, rigorous and adapted social research aligned with health and humanitarian emergency rhythms.
• Strengthen architecture, quality, security and interoperability of CREC, social listening and community feedback databases.
• Produce regular, disaggregated and action-oriented analyses to guide CREC and other response pillars.
• Establish mechanisms to monitor use of evidence and community recommendations in decision-making.
• Transfer methods, tools and skills to national teams and partners to ensure system continuity.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent (Master or Bac+4 with 5 years experience) in social or behavioral sciences, anthropology, sociology, social psychology, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, demography, data science, monitoring and evaluation or related field.
• Additional training or experience in research methods, qualitative research, statistical analysis, data management or behavioral sciences is an asset.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in information management and research methods, qualitative research, statistical analysis, data management or behavioral sciences.
• Fluency in French and Kirundi, oral and written.
• Knowledge of Swahili is an asset.
• Strong mastery of research protocols, sampling, mobile data collection, quality assurance, analysis and scientific or operational writing.
• Proficiency with data collection tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK, advanced Excel and at least one statistical analysis software such as R, Stata, SPSS or equivalent.
• Ability to develop dashboards with Power BI, Tableau or equivalent; knowledge of qualitative analysis software such as NVivo, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA is an asset.
• Good knowledge of data protection principles, anonymization, research ethics and safeguarding vulnerable persons.
• Excellent analytical, synthesis, visualization and translation skills to produce concrete recommendations.
• Ability to train, coach and work with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines and evolving environments.
