The Communication Officer supports the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of advocacy and communication strategies to promote children's and women's issues in Türkiye. The role involves producing communication materials, managing media relations, and organizing special events to support UNICEF's mission and enhance its credibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to promote children’s and women’s issues and strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission.
  • Ensure timely production and follow-up of communication products and materials to support country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and resource mobilization.
  • Provide professional assistance and support in developing, drafting and maintaining contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets across all media types in the country.
  • Undertake regular monitoring and evaluation activities according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts.
  • Prepare and share results and reports on a timely basis.
  • Maintain and develop the Country Office’s contact list of individuals, groups, organizations and fora essential to achieving advocacy and communication objectives and supporting special events and activities.
  • Supervise and follow-up on production and qualitative monitoring of information and communication materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations and any other related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media is required.
  • Field work experience and familiarity with emergency situations are required.
  • Skills in communication and communication strategy, collaboration, networking, technical knowledge in media production and communication practice.
  • Proficient/Fluent in both Turkish and English.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with the private sector is considered an asset.
  • International work experience is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is considered an asset.
