Protection Intern

The Protection Intern supports the Legal and Political Affairs Unit in legal analysis, advocacy, and institutional coordination related to asylum procedures in France, EU law, and the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum. The intern contributes to training, legal research, monitoring legislative and policy developments, and preparation of meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation of initial and continuous training for members of the CNDA.
• Contribute to legal research and drafting analytical notes related to asylum law, asylum procedure in France including overseas territories, and EU law.
• Monitor legislative, jurisprudential and policy developments in asylum, especially related to the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum.
• Participate in preparation of meetings, events and external interventions including drafting minutes and summary notes.
• Participate in transversal activities of the Unit as needed.
• Participate in status verifications in first asylum countries of applicants.
• Perform other activities as needed by the Protection Unit.

Requirements

• Young graduate (having completed studies within two years prior to application) or currently pursuing higher education at a university or higher education institution recognized by UNESCO.
• Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field or of interest to the Organization's work (human rights, public international law, international relations, political science).
• In-depth knowledge of the asylum procedure in France and involved actors.
• Writing skills in French and English.
• Research, analysis and synthesis skills.
• Organizational skills, method and rigor.
• Autonomy, responsiveness and adaptability.
• Minimum C2 level of French and minimum B2 level of English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
