The Project Support Intern (Data Analysis) will support projects and administrative processes within the Supporter Engagement Section, focusing on project management, resource management, reporting, procurement, data gathering, and administrative processes. This internship offers experience in project management, finance, procurement, operations, process improvements, and system developments within the UN system.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse data and create dashboards in Business Intelligence Software (e.g. PowerBI) to support reporting, monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support system development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide project management support and innovative solutions to project activities.
  • Assist in coordinating the formulation of strategies and programmes.
  • Assist in coordinating and supporting the section’s presence on internal digital platforms such as SharePoint.
  • Support the onboarding and separation of colleagues joining and leaving the section.
  • Assist in identifying and managing the necessary resources to implement projects activities.
  • Organize regular team meetings and ad hoc meetings and events (book room, coordinate agenda, send invitation, take notes).
  • Create and edit presentations, reports and other documents in visually pleasing, clear and presentable formats.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the operational work of the Section.
  • Perform any other necessary duties.

Requirements

  • Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO.
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
  • Not have exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, including any prior internships (8 months for full-time and 12 months for part-time).
  • Strong communicator with fluency in English (advanced writing and editing skills).
  • Ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • Ability to quickly shift from one task to another to meet multiple support needs.
  • Curiosity in digital innovation, with a proactive approach to exploring new tools and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ability to review data, identify and adjust discrepancies.
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Knowledge of a second UN language (Arabic/Chinese/French/Russian/Spanish) is desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of financial, administrative, secretarial best practices and procedures is desirable.
  • Experience with project management tools is desirable.
