The expert will collaborate closely with the Urban Lab team and Planning Finance Section, reporting to the Programme Management Officer. Duties include preparing materials for workshops, drafting planning materials for spatial analysis and strategic visions, and participating in technical missions if required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials (presentations, maps, drawings) for workshops with city and county officials and technical staff in Nigeria and Kenya.
- Be responsible of the drafting, revision and completion planning materials for spatial analysis and strategic visions in Nigeria and Kenya.
- Participate in technical missions, if required.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning and Design is a required.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent) in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in drawing and preparing plan graphical material using computer assisted design tools, with special attention to data management and processing with GIS software is required.
- Good hand drawing / sketching of macro-scale plans is an advantage.
- Good analytic and design skills in regional and citywide planning and design is an advantage.
- Working experience in the African continent is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
