The Urban Climate Intern supports research and project development related to urban climate resilience under the UN-Habitat climate urban portfolio. The intern assists with project ideas, day-to-day tasks, field work, meeting minutes, and logistics management during workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Support with research related to ongoing or upcoming projects under the climate urban portfolio.
  • Assist in writing urban climate resilience project ideas.
  • Assist in day-to-day tasks related to project development and funds mobilization.
  • Support with field work related tasks.
  • Take meeting minutes.
  • Manage logistics during workshops.
  • Perform any other tasks relevant to the mandates of UN-Habitat.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Preferred areas of study: Management, climate, urban planning, economy, political science, international law.
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
  • Applicants must provide proof of academic status or degree.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in report writing and policy reports is desirable.
  • Result-oriented research skills are required.
