Responsible for the mobility and coordination of transportation requested by the ONU-Habitat Mesoamerica office during the contract period. Duties include ensuring vehicle maintenance, safe and proper use of the vehicle, transporting official personnel within the country, and supporting operational activities of the office.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the coordination of the Head of the ONU-Habitat Office for Mesoamerica
  • Ensure the good condition and functioning of the vehicle, maintaining it in the agency's offices in optimal conditions
  • Ensure proper use of the vehicle in compliance with United Nations norms and principles
  • Pick up and transport official personnel within the country as required
  • Support facilitation of migration and/or customs procedures if necessary
  • Check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., and keep the vehicle clean and in optimal condition for road transfers complying with safety standards
  • Prepare, maintain and follow up on the vehicle maintenance plan, inform and manage repairs as needed according to norms and regulations
  • Take necessary measures and actions in case of incidents in compliance with country norms and regulations
  • Assist in other activities requested by the ONU-Habitat Mesoamerica office within the contract framework
  • Responsible for own safety and must comply with United Nations Security Management System accountability framework
  • Drive the ONU-Habitat vehicle to provide transportation for personnel to meetings, workshops and other necessary activities
  • Pick up and transport personnel arriving or departing airports and other terminals, and handle customs and other formalities for personnel arriving or leaving abroad
  • Distribute correspondence, invitations and workshop materials
  • Support essential office activities, assisting the operations area
  • Provide reliable and safe driving service; punctuality; discretion and respectful treatment of passengers; compliance with applicable protocol rules
  • Proper use and care of the vehicle; regularly check fundamental vehicle parameters and perform necessary adjustments
  • Maintain and follow up on the vehicle maintenance plan, perform minor repairs within reach and manage major repairs
  • Ensure permanent availability of documentation and necessary supplies to maintain service: keep circulation permit and technical review certificate up to date; maintain vehicle logbook; ensure availability of spare tire, tools and basic parts for road problem solving
  • Maintain close communication with ONU-Habitat Mesoamerica office staff to maximize synergies and ensure execution of planned activities for project implementation

Requirements

  • Secondary education (Secundaria)
  • At least 3 years of experience as a driver
  • No record of sanctions related to traffic violations and road driving
  • Valid driving license
  • Good knowledge of traffic regulations
  • Knowledge of care and maintenance of light vehicles
  • Knowledge of protocol and driving rules for diplomatic personnel
  • Possession of necessary and valid credentials/licenses or documentation to perform duties
  • Excellent oral and written skills in Spanish
  • Basic knowledge of English is desirable
