Social Protection Officer

The Social Protection Officer coordinates the implementation of the EU4PEOPLE Social Protection Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, supporting UNFPA components focused on social protection of vulnerable groups, demographic change, ageing, and gender-responsive social services. The role involves managing day-to-day operations, collaborating with partners, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of project results.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day implementation and support management of the EU4PEOPLE Social Protection Programme for UNFPA.
• Coordinate project activities and lead the project team to ensure timely and effective delivery of results.
• Monitor research activities and make adjustments to ensure progress.
• Work collaboratively with partners including government agencies, research institutions, and donors.
• Support implementation of the UNFPA component ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Promote a transformative and context-appropriate approach among program staff.
• Ensure timely execution of research activities through efficient planning, monitoring, and implementation.
• Communicate updates and reporting requirements to Administrative Agent and UNFPA Management.
• Coordinate evidence generation and analytical work on demographic change, ageing, disability, gender inequalities and care needs.
• Support strengthening of social protection systems integrating demographic resilience and gender-responsive approaches.
• Support strengthening of quality assurance, oversight and compliance mechanisms for publicly funded women's shelters.
• Provide technical guidance to partners ensuring adherence to standards and quality assurance mechanisms.
• Track partner progress, manage risks, and evaluate partner effectiveness.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports and contribute to research findings with actionable recommendations.
• Assist in implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor and CO management.

Requirements

• An advanced degree (minimum Master's degree or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
• Professional experience in project management, preferably in public health, social policy and research is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in project management including program design, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation is highly advantageous.
• Experience providing technical advice, donor reporting, and capacity building is highly advantageous.
• Leadership skills in managing, researching and collaborating with diverse teams including staff, experts, and consultants is highly advantageous.
• Excellent communication, written reporting, and analytical skills.
• Experience working with the UN, international organizations, managing EU-funded projects, and multi-partner health research projects is highly advantageous.
• Experience using office software packages and web-based management systems.
• Fluency in English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is required.
