See your match score & applyThe International Operations Manager (IOM) leads strategic planning and management of UNFPA operations in Cameroon, overseeing financial, procurement, IT, travel, logistics, and common services. The role supports the delivery of the UNFPA country programme and ensures operational efficiency, compliance, and safety of staff and premises.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning for UNFPA operations and set management targets.
- Ensure operations are carried out effectively, transparently, and in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Drive knowledge management practices within the office.
- Build capacity of staff through coaching and mentoring on operations management.
- Manage financial services ensuring integrity of financial systems and budget review.
- Supervise operations staff with performance appraisal and leadership.
- Oversee official travel, logistics, premises, and work plans.
- Ensure high quality procurement and project support services.
- Monitor financial exception reports and alert HQ to unusual transactions.
- Coordinate HR administration as Human Resources Focal Point with Regional HR Business Partner.
- Provide advice on administrative HR processes and liaise with HRBP and UNDP counterparts.
- Become expert in ERP system for financial and HR transactions.
- Provide policy support and advocacy on common services with other UN organizations.
- Ensure common services and joint arrangements benefit UNFPA.
- Support staff safety by ensuring compliance with UN security standards.
- Represent UNFPA in Security Management Team and Operations Management Team meetings.
- Represent UNFPA in inter-agency administrative meetings and promote cooperation.
- Identify new approaches to enhance UNFPA delivery capacities and cost effectiveness.
- Promote client-oriented approach among operations staff.
- Carry out other duties as required by management.
Requirements
- Postgraduate university degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Management or related field.
- Seven (7) years of experience in development in a governmental, multilateral or civil society organization in a multi-cultural setting.
- At least 3 years experience managing teams in a complex organizational setting.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, focus on impact and results, and respond positively to feedback.
- Solid knowledge in procurement, financial and human resources management, contract, asset, and information and communication technology.
- Ability to lead business process re-engineering and implement new systems.
- Ability to positively affect staff behavioural and attitudinal changes.
- Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management and reporting, formulation and monitoring of projects/programmes.
- Experience in international development and dedication to the principles of the United Nations.
- Field experience is essential; humanitarian context is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to sustain and advance current partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic vision and focus by communicating and implementing priorities based on clear deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for team decisions and provide rationale.
- Demonstrated ability to provide team managers with direction to achieve results and hold them accountable.
- Fluency in English is required.
