UNESCO is seeking part-time Arabic language teachers for its language teaching programme to improve language abilities of staff and promote multilingualism. The role involves teaching beginners' Arabic courses in-person at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from October to December 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Arabic beginners courses in-person covering production and receptive language skills.
  • Preparing course descriptions, programmes, classes and learning materials in accordance with the level and objectives of the group.
  • Correcting assignments/homework and providing individualized feedback and advice on participants’ progress.
  • Carrying out administrative duties related to language teaching such as maintaining attendance and communicating with students as needed.
  • Undertaking assignments at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.
  • Participating in a pool of part-time teachers for ongoing and ad-hoc language teaching needs.

Requirements

  • Training and qualifications in second or foreign language teaching is highly desirable.
  • A qualification from a higher education institute in language area studies, language teaching, applied linguistics, communication or education/pedagogy or related area is preferred.
  • Qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the formal qualifications.
  • Experience in teaching Arabic to adult learners in a professional context is preferred.
