See your match score & applyThe internship position supports the MIKE Unit in Nairobi by assisting in planning, researching, producing, and releasing communications and multimedia materials on wildlife conservation topics, focusing on the MIKE Program. The intern will also assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and events, supporting communication and data compilation related to illegal killing trends, and providing logistical and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Assist in organising meetings, workshops, and events related to the MIKE Programme, including MIKE Subregional Steering Committee meetings, training workshops, and Technical Advisory Group meetings.
- Assist in developing and adapting MIKE-related materials to support effective delivery of workshops and meetings.
- Support communication and maintain engagement with Elephant Range States on MIKE-related matters.
- Take minutes, prepare and distribute documentation before and after meetings.
- Assist in compiling and organizing MIKE data related to illegal killing trends.
- Support the preparation of summaries and briefing notes based on MIKE reports and findings.
- Support document archiving and organisation of files on SharePoint and other shared platforms.
- Support logistical and administrative preparation of missions, meetings, and project-related events, including travel arrangements and participant coordination.
- Maintain updated planning tools, calendars, and internal tracking systems to support efficient project implementation.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher); or have graduated with a university degree.
- Preferred area of study: Wildlife conservation, Environmental Management, Project Management, Business Management or any other related field.
- Demonstrate interest and motivation to work in wildlife conservation, with a particular focus on elephant conservation.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants must provide proof of enrolment or degree certificate as applicable.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
- Interns are not financially remunerated and must cover costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may require appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
