See your match score & applyThe Specialiste BTP will work closely with IT, Procurement and Logistics units and service providers responsible for office/project network and IT installations/maintenance. The role includes auditing, construction, and technical support for building and civil engineering works related to UNDP office and projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist office and projects in evaluation, design, audit and monitoring of civil engineering works.
- Develop and amend technical electrical specifications/plans as needed.
- Prepare consultation documents for construction companies according to UNDP procedures.
- Advise and monitor the procurement process.
- Participate in preparatory and explanatory meetings with potential service providers.
- Organize preparatory meetings for works with selected service providers.
- Organize periodic site visits and write progress reports.
- Certify payments to service providers.
- Organize final acceptance with UNDP representatives.
- Provide expertise on UNDP installations/buildings for defining terms of reference and compliance with standards.
- Perform other tasks related to civil engineering works.
- Ensure support to project design in civil engineering is provided.
- Ensure effective monitoring of project delivery/construction works.
- Provide quality advisory support.
- Produce two deliverables per mission: technical specifications and a final report to accompany payment requests.
Requirements
- Be an Engineer in Civil Engineering, Construction, Architecture or equivalent, or hold a BAC +4 degree in a related field.
- Have at least 7 years (Engineer) or 9 years (Bachelor) or 8 years (Master) of proven experience in similar construction works.
- Professional expertise in auditing and building construction.
- Expertise in drafting technical specifications, architectural plans, and site supervision.
- Good ability to prepare publications, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Experience managing complex initiatives and projects.
- Experience using computers, office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and architectural plan production tools.
- Good knowledge of collaboration with local construction service providers.
- Excellent communication and networking skills to facilitate collaboration with diverse partners.
- Experience in project monitoring with UN agencies, governments, NGOs, civil society organizations, and international public organizations.
- Fluency in French as working language with good writing skills; knowledge of English is an asset.
