See your match score & applyThe On-call Security Guard is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment at the UN House in Sarajevo, providing support to surveillance and protection of staff and visitors. The role involves access control, patrolling, emergency response, and maintaining security systems on a rotating shift basis.
Responsibilities
- Support Access Control by performing pedestrian and vehicular access control to UN House facilities ensuring proper identification, screening, and direction of personnel and visitors.
- Ensure no unauthorized personnel gain access to UN House facilities and verify authorization for equipment removal.
- Use technical screening equipment to prevent prohibited items from entering the facility and maintain control of emergency key system.
- Conduct regular patrols of the UN House, including internal areas, external perimeter, access points, and parking areas.
- Perform physical security checks of the compound, offices, and common areas ensuring proper security.
- Monitor and report on condition and functionality of security equipment, infrastructure, or assets within UN House premises.
- Maintain operation of the security control centre and monitor emergency line, public address system, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire safety, electronic door locking, and VHF channel.
- Act as response officer during emergencies or incidents and implement emergency procedures and measures.
- Report incidents, disturbances, suspicious activities, safety concerns, or irregular occurrences promptly.
- Maintain peace and order within UN House and keep all logbooks as per routine.
- Provide security support for organized events as requested.
- Support safe and unobstructed pedestrian access to UN House facilities and parking area.
- Provide limited ancillary support for upkeep of external areas of the UN House compound.
- Participate in mandatory security briefings, drills, and training activities.
- Comply with UN Code of Conduct, security policies, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
Requirements
- Secondary Education (High School certificate) is required.
- Minimum two years of experience in the security field with secondary education.
- Experience in access control, video controlling, patrolling, and protection of premises and assets.
- Experience in security reporting, record-keeping, and maintenance of logbooks and incident documentation.
- Experience working in Windows and MS Office applications.
- Professional training, certification, and licensing for physical security services is desirable.
- Experience in responding to emergency situations, including fire, medical incidents, evacuation, and security threats is desirable.
- Previous experience providing security services to international organizations, diplomatic missions, or similar institutions is desirable.
- Fluency in national language (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian).
- Working knowledge of English and local languages.
