The Associate in Citizen Participation, Youth and Elections will coordinate and implement interventions aimed at civic-political training, strengthening youth leadership, and promoting active participation of indigenous youth in public affairs and democratic processes in prioritized territories. The role involves facilitating leadership schools, promoting intergenerational dialogue, and leading training in strategic communication, political violence prevention, and safe use of digital tools for public advocacy and informed electoral participation.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead the design and implementation of civic training, leadership strengthening, and citizen participation processes targeting indigenous youth and women.
• Design and implement training processes including leadership schools, specialized workshops, and participatory methodologies incorporating gender, interculturality, human rights, citizen participation, and civic-electoral education approaches.
• Strengthen civic, political, electoral, and communication capacities of indigenous youth to promote active, safe, and informed participation in citizen spaces and democratic and electoral processes.
• Facilitate dialogue, reflection, and intergenerational exchange spaces among youth, community leaders, public institutions, civil society organizations, and electoral actors to promote democratic culture, inclusive participation, and prevention of political and electoral violence including digital political violence.
• Strengthen citizen participation and coordination with institutional, territorial actors, and partner organizations to achieve project objectives.
• Coordinate actions and establish strategic alliances with public institutions, electoral authorities, indigenous organizations, youth networks, civil society organizations, and UN system agencies to strengthen citizen participation and democratic and electoral processes.
• Provide technical and methodological support to partner organizations and territorial actors to ensure effective and quality implementation of project activities, incorporating democratic governance, inclusion, interculturality, gender, and political-electoral participation approaches.
• Promote coordination, dialogue, and advocacy mechanisms to strengthen participation of indigenous youth and women in public affairs and democratic processes.
• Support implementation of civic-electoral participation initiatives, citizen observation, and information generation for decision-making.
• Promote citizen observation platforms and initiatives oriented to monitoring and promoting civic and political rights of indigenous youth and women.
• Promote voter registration, informed electoral participation, and other initiatives to strengthen political rights exercise.
• Systematize information, prepare technical reports, and generate inputs for advocacy and monitoring of project activities.
• Contribute to knowledge management, project implementation, and strengthening democratic governance.
• Document experiences, best practices, and lessons learned from project implementation to strengthen knowledge management.
• Contribute to development of methodological tools, technical materials, and other knowledge products related to citizen participation, youth, and electoral processes.
• Support other activities related to project implementation and strengthening the Democratic Governance Area according to institutional priorities.
• Perform other functions within the functional profile required for efficient office and organizational operation.

Requirements

• High School certificate with 6 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience in designing, facilitating, and implementing training processes related to citizen participation, youth leadership, civic-political education, and democratic strengthening.
• Experience working with indigenous women and youth, including technical support to organizations, networks, and community platforms, and experience in promoting citizen and political-electoral participation, electoral observation, public advocacy, and capacity building for exercising civic and political rights.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops, leadership schools, and participatory methodologies aimed at youth, indigenous women, and community actors.
• Experience with civic and political participation, indigenous peoples' rights, culture of peace, conflict prevention, and electoral conflict analysis.
• Experience strengthening networks and platforms of indigenous women and youth through transformative leadership, community organization, and collective advocacy.
• Experience in socio-political analysis, information systematization, technical report writing, and monitoring civic and political rights.
• Experience managing digital tools, collaborative platforms, and inclusive and participatory communication strategies.
• Desirable experience includes social and electoral conflict analysis in community contexts, political violence prevention, political analysis, and prospective scenario development related to democratic governance and electoral processes.
• Experience in electoral observation, conflict monitoring, and case documentation in community and territorial contexts.
• Experience in social auditing, citizen participation, and accountability mechanisms.
• Experience designing and implementing inclusive communication and community participation strategies targeting indigenous women and youth.
• Experience applying gender, intersectionality, interculturality, and human rights approaches in training, organizational processes, and technical support.
• Fluency in Spanish is required.
• Intermediate knowledge of English is required.
• Oral and written knowledge of at least one national indigenous language is valued to strengthen cultural and linguistic relevance of project interventions.
